fundable.com died a controversial death but a couple of new websites have sprung up around the same concept:
The concept is simple: each project sets a deadline and a dollar amount to raise by that deadline. Other users then pledge to donate to that project and if the goal is reached, money changes hands and the hip entrepreneurs get all the money. If the goal is not reached, the backers keep their dollars.
Each project will post a list of rewards that they promise to give to a backer depending on how much is donated. For instance, 5 bucks might get you a mention in the credits at the end of a documentary. 30 bucks might get you an online link to download the movie.
